Edificio Padre Antonio Soler, Leganés

Program
Lecture 1: Time-Dependent Schrödinger Equation, Harmonic
Oscillator, and Superpositions
Date: June 19th, 10:00 am.
Venue: Salón de Grados Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Campus de Leganés.
Speaker: Professor Marek Osinski (University of New Mexico).
Abstract: This lecture introduces the fundamental equation governing the evolution of
quantum systems. Participants will explore the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, the
quantum harmonic oscillator as one of the most important solvable models in physics, and
the principle of quantum superposition, which underpins many uniquely quantum
phenomena.

Lecture 2: Dirac Notation, Functions, and Operators
Date: June 22nd, 10:00 am.
Venue: Salón de Grados Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Campus de Leganés.
Speaker: Professor Marek Osinski (University of New Mexico).
Abstract: The second lecture focuses on the mathematical language of quantum
mechanics. Topics include Dirac’s bra-ket notation, quantum states represented by
wavefunctions, operators associated with physical observables, and the formal framework
used to describe quantum measurements and state evolution.

Lecture 3: Entanglement, Teleportation, and Quantum Computing
Date: June 23rd, 10:00 am.
Venue: Salón de Grados Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Campus de Leganés.
Speaker: Professor Marek Osinski (University of New Mexico).
Abstract: The final lecture of the course explores some of the most remarkable features of
quantum mechanics. Quantum entanglement and quantum teleportation will be
introduced as key resources for quantum information processing, followed by an overview
of the principles and potential applications of quantum computing.

Lecture 4: Entanglement Networks for Datacentre-Scale Quantum Computing
Date: June 24th, 10:00 AM.
Venue: Salón de Grados, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Campus de Leganés.
Speaker: Mario de Miguel Ramos (Nu Quantum).
Abstract: The quantum computing industry has been sustaining fast progress in scale-up,
with quantum processors now demonstrating error-corrected logical qubits and first
indications of computational advantage for narrow scientific problems. This talk will look
ahead to what we require to reach full commercial advantage, and show that there is a key
piece missing: modularity. The scaling path we envisage will entail building multi-core
quantum computing clusters at the datacenter scale, and eventually connecting tens or
hundreds of modules together to enable multi-million-qubit machines. This talk will
describe our distributed quantum computing architecture underpinned by photonic
interconnects. It will outline the technical challenges that need to be overcome to progress
the technology, and how Nu Quantum is working to build the pieces needed to scale out
towards useful quantum computation. We will also discuss the plans for the expansion of
Nu Quantum to Spain, as part of our record-breaking series A of $60 million, starting a team
of more than 30 professionals working on quantum photonics and distributed quantum
algorithms.
